There is not a lot to say about this encoding. Note that the function symbols given in the Vocabulary box are declared to be “hidden”. This means they will not be printed when the solutions are reported. Instead, at the end, we introduce two constants recording David’s age and beans. These could have been declared as vocabulary, as they are names of integers, but the solver is smart enough to work that out, so we can simply use them without declaring them.
