The key to encoding this puzzle is to set up the sorts and functions appropriately. Once you have done that, the actual constraints should not be too difficult to write.
Key positions in the Logicians’ Union came up for election last week. We elected a new president to serve as the Public Face of Logic, a new secretary to take on the hopeless task of keeping our affairs in order, and a new treasurer – a merely symbolic position until such time as we have some treasure. Union rules state that no-one may be a candidate for more than one position, and each of us gets to vote for just one of the candidates for each position. Some of the votes cast were as follows:
| voter | President | Secretary | Treasurer |
| Jumble | Amble | Dimwit | Grumble |
| Kookwit | Bumble | Eggwit | Grumble |
| Lackwit | Crumble | Fumble | Halfwit |
| Mumble | Bumble | Fumble | Inkwit |
| Nitwit | Crumble | Dimwit | Grumble |
| Oddwit | Amble | Eggwit | Inkwit |
As it turns out, each of these six voted for at least one of the successful candidates.
