Transfer Listintermediate series
This puzzle is very similar to most of the Intermediate ones, except that there is more than one function involving the same sort, as each player has an old club and a new club. There is also a player who does not change to a different team, but that should not pose any special difficulties.
It’s the season for football clubs to trade players in the endless search for more goals and more money. Five of the League’s most logical players have been in the news in this regard. Their names, in alphabetical order, are Aristotle, Boole, Curry, DeMorgan and Etchemendy. Their usual positions are, in order of the numbers on their backs, goalkeeper, defender, midfield, wing and striker. The five clubs involved in this round of trading are the Wanderers, City, United, Victory and Stars. Each player has an old club, for whom they played last week, and a new club for whom they now play.
Here are some of the news items:
1. Etchemendy used to play for City. He wears a higher number than the person who replaces him at City, but a lower number than the winger who has now moved to the Wanderers.
2. As all their attempted transfer deals failed, the Stars did not, in the end, buy or sell anybody.
3. United now have the services of the Irish genius Boole. The player he replaces there wears a lower-numbered shirt.
4. The defender who was traded used to play for Victory. He’s not DeMorgan, by the way.
5. Curry, the goalkeeper, does not play for Victory.
Give us the whole list: old clubs, new clubs and the position each person plays.
